Play Road Rash Online - What is Road Rash?

Road Rash was a popular game in the early 1990s. It was released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis gaming console and was later released for other gaming systems throughout the later 90s. There were four different versions of the game released and you can still play some of them online.
Many people remember this game very well because it was one of the first games to offer interactive gaming graphics. This was one of the games that bridged from the earlier days of very basic Atari games to the more advanced games that we are all familiar with today. While Road Rash games were still a far cry from the games kids are now playing, the graphics were a lot more advanced and made quite a splash on the market at the time.
For instance, this was one of the first games to feature trees, animals, traffic signs and other images that created a more realistic gaming environment. The game is based on
the concept of motorcycle road racing. As players raced down the road, they would have to contend with slower vehicles getting in their way, animals running into the road, and police officers trying to pull them over and write them a ticket. This more realistic gaming world was far different from the basic Atari games that didn't include realistic graphics or much of a storyline.
How to Play Road Rash
Road Rash allowed players to select a motorcycle and at later points in the game, a weapon. They hopped on their bikes and raced onto public California roadways to illegally race other motorcyclists. The goal was to place within the top three racers, which would give the player a pass to the next round of the game.
The first Road Rash game took players to the end of a road, where the finish line would be placed. Each time a round was passed, the road would stretch out a little longer before reaching the finish line. In the second and third versions of the game, a series of interconnecting roads was used rather than going over and over the same road each level.
Players remained in the races until they either wrecked their motorcycle and didn't have the cash to fix the damage or got busted by the police. The second and third versions of the game increased the fun by offering two player modes where two people could race against one another on a side-by-side viewing screen.
Play Road Rash Online
If you remember Road Rash from your early gaming years or like the sound of this early game, you can actually play it online today. There are a few sites that offer the game right on your computer screen, while many others just offer a version of the game for download. The benefit of downloading the game is that you can play it whenever you want, even if you are not connected to the Internet.
Playing online is the only option most people have to enjoy this game today. The old gaming systems that Road Rash was released on are becoming harder to find and it is difficult to find a game console still in good working condition.
